This book is being written with the desire of establishing in each reader a love foundation- the true basis from which everything else in the kingdom of God flows. There is a love in Jesus for which we have no frame of reference in our knowledge of love in this world. His love is beyond, and totally different from, our understanding of love from any other experience. Without a true love foundation in Jesus, we can even misinterpret scriptures by coloring them to match our interpretation of love. In Ephesians, Paul prayed by the Spirit that we (all those in the Body of Christ from this day onward), being rooted and grounded in love, might be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height of the love of Jesus, which passes knowledge. He prayed that all the saints might be filled with the fullness of God. (Eph. 3:17-19)
Hosea 4:6 says, My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.
We need the true knowledge of the love for us that is in Jesus, just as we need the knowledge of the salvation that is in Him, and the knowledge of the healing and deliverance provided by Him on the cross.
Many people are broken by rejection, not having heard, or received, that there is a perfect acceptance possible for us in Jesus.
There is a love we can receive by faith that is so strong, so healing, that it can revolutionize our lives - no matter what the backgrounds, past defeats, or past rejections.
We have nothing in this world from which to draw that will prepare us for that kind of love. So our minds must be renewed to the Word Of God in order to receive the love that is ours in Jesus.
Mark 4:24 says, Consider carefully what you hear.
One reason for this admonition is that what we hear will come up in our lives like seed that has been planted and watered. That principle is the primary reason this little book is being written. Christians need to hear the good news about God's love for us in Jesus in order for love to spring up as a harvest in our lives.
First John 4:19 states that We love because He first loved us. We need to stop and receive His love firsthand, then we will have something to give out to others.
And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. (Hebrews 10:10)
